I carry on my duties as nighlYatchmaa
in Oxford Street Sydney and have been doing so for 23
years. My dutiek.- cover from 10. 15 p. m. to 6, L5 a. m.
On the 6th June last I was on duty in oxford Street. I wa s
shot by a man named Samuel Freeman - This happened in the
recess of the Oxfved Street Post Office. I had not
known Freeman before. There was a good electric light
I saw him four times altogether and have absolutely no
doubt as to his identity. This was between 6 and 6 .15
The closest ae was to me that morning was about
a Yard..
freeman was running out of the recess and
stopped. near the telephone box when he stopped and shot
me. I saw his face. The Post Office was broken into that
morning.
I heard the accused give evidence on behart of
Freelaan at his trial in connection with this affair.
X-ed by Mr. Moseley:- Some people were lined up for identification
in connection with my identifying Freeman. I did not
DiCiL out another man first, I had seen a pheoto of another
man previously.
I spoke to some of my friands about the
emoting. I dO not know
a man named ,Terry Driscoll and
have no knowledge of ever seeing him. I never told any
one that Jerry Driscoll had shot me. I had never seen
Freeman before.
I was shown only the one photo

1004 -I turned the leaves over. I d'd not know any of
the ,others.
I had never seen Ryan before seeing him
in Court, I aad never heard. of Freeman before I was shot
