The Case "FOR" and "AGAINST"
What the Referendum is about:
On April 29, electors in north-east New South Wales
will vote in a New State Referendum. Voting is
compulsory.
A favourable vote in this referendum

NEW S.TATE REFERENDUM
29th APRIL, 1967
(VOTING IS COMPULSORY)
would not lead to the immediate creation of a New
State. Further steps would be necessary, including a
Question on the ballot paper:
second referendum covering the whole State of New
South Wales.
The question is: "Are you in favour of the establishment of a New State in north-east New South Wales
as described in the New.State Referendum Act, 1966?"
The proposed New State area is referred to as - nontueast New
South Wales" in the New State Referendum Act, 1966. In the
