1943, and further report January 1944.
Also included are various plans such as those of: Garden Island;
Victoria Barracks, Paddington; Woolloomooloo and Farm Cove
anchorages; the City of Sydney showing the Military Reserve at
Fort Phillip; "Barrack Square", Parramatta; and, of the Admiralty
House grounds, North Sydney.
Transfer of State property to the Commonwealth, 1906-11
This bundle comprises correspondence and papers relating to the
payment of compensation and interest on transferred properties;
approximate valuations of properties; assessment of properties in
dual occupation by the State and Commonwealth; and the retransfer of properties to the State. Comprises correspondence
between the Premier, other State Premiers and the
Commonwealth; correspondence from State Government officials
re valuations etc; papers about methods by which the
Commonwealth could acquire land, 1906; and papers about the
Commonwealth legislation relating to the acquisition of land for
public purposes, the Eminent Domain Bill, 1906, later re-badged
the Lands Acquisition Bill, including suggested amendments.

Printed papers include the Report of the Conference of
Commonwealth and State Officers, Valuation of transferred
properties, Melbourne, August 1906, and Parliamentary papers
entitled Federal (Final Report of the State Valuers of New South
Wales regarding properties transferred to the Commonwealth of
Australia, together with Appendices), ordered to be printed by the
Legislative Assembly on 14 December 1908.

of compensation, 1909-13, 1919, 1923-24

Mainly correspondence with the other States and the
Commonwealth concerning valuation, assessment, claims and the
rate of interest to be paid as the agreed capital value of properties
acquired by the Commonwealth. Other papers relate to
compulsory acquisition of New South Wales Crown lands by the
Commonwealth; registration of notifications of resumptions of land
compulsorily acquired by the Commonwealth from the State;
registration of titles; and State rights to minerals in lands
transferred to or compulsorily acquired by the Commonwealth.
Included are questions and answers in the Legislative Assembly in
1911 about the interest due on the value of transferred properties
(mostly post offices, defence works, Customs Houses); and papers
relating to a proposal by the Commonwealth in 1911 to pay
interest at the rate of three per cent per annum upon the agreed
capital value of the properties taken over as from 1 July 1910 and
a further amount equal to not less than 1/2 per cent per annum to
establish a sinking fund to liquidate the principle debts.
Most of the papers on the file are for the periods 1910-12 and
1923-24.
