Alleged double voting in 1907 General Election, 1907-08

This bundle comprises papers relating to cases of alleged double
voting in the General Election of 1907, held on 10 September
1907, at various Electorates throughout the State. The cases
include ones where there was: a false electoral claim; voting in the
wrong name; a non-qualified elector recording his vote; uttering of
a forged document, an electoral claim, with intent to defraud the
Registrar; and other irregularities such as false declarations and
alleged impersonations. Many were found to be the result of, or
were believed to have arisen from, the wrongful marking of the
roll by booth officials.
The papers include: reports from the relevant Returning Officer on
the apparent cases of double voting; statements by Police about
the results of inquiries; declarations of electors about the voting
irregularity; statements of Presiding Officers; reports on the
scrutiny of rolls in connection with the local option vote; and
results of the examination of rolls.
Also included are returns of the number of voters at polling place
(by sex) at the General Election 10 September 1907; 1907
summary of "Alleged irregularities at the last General Election
reported by Returning Officers", arranged by Electoral District; list
of cases referred to the Crown Solicitor of double voting etc in
connection with the recent General Election (1907); prosecutions
for voting twice at an election under Section 90 of the Act No.33,
1902; a filled in form of declaration to be signed by a voter at any
polling-place in same district other than the polling -place for which
he is enrolled; and a file "Cases of irregular voting at last General
Election, 1907-08" (08/193).
There are also some papers relating to other electoral matters,
such as the forwarding of returns.
State Election — accounts and papers, 1910
The General Election was held on 14 October 1910.

This comprises two bundles of papers which primarily relate to
accounting matters. Also included are some blank forms and other
miscellaneous papers.
The first bundle marked as "Election papers — Accounts received
from Accountant" includes: applications for advances to cover
election expenses, and for further advances; estimates of the cost
of the election; correspondence concerning estimates and payment
of expenses; papers re tenders for erection of booths; applications
for additional clerical assistance; requests for additional fees; and
in a separate bundle, acknowledgements of the receipt of telegram
forms for telegraphing results of the 1910 election.
The second bundle marked "Miscellaneous papers State election
1910" includes papers relating to insufficient numbers of ballot
boxes; costs of repairing ballot boxes for use in the coming
General Election (overhauling, cleaning, new lids, new locks,
painting, supply of keys); and, Government Gazettes of 17 June
1910 and 16 September 1910, the first notifying Regulations
under the Parliamentary Electorates and Elections Act, 1902, and
