Duplicate Despatch No. 89 of 13 July 1857: the Secretary of State
transmitting a copy of some observations on the boundary
question addressed to Her Majesty's Government by Matthew
Henry Marsh. "I must leave the question in your hands, having
already informed you that I am ready to adopt the demarcation
proposed by yourself in the future Order in Council unless you see
reason thus to vary it". A copy of Marsh's letter of 10 July 1857 is
enclosed.

Duplicate Despatch No. 17 of 25 February 1858: the Secretary of
State, acknowledging receipt of the Governor's despatch of
14 November 1857 (No.139), with its enclosed petition from
certain inhabitants of Ipswich expressing their thanks for
separating the district of Moreton Bay from New South Wales but
protesting against the decision to adopt the boundary line
suggested by the Governor.
Duplicate Despatch No.33 of 26 May 1858. In this Despatch Lord
Stanley acknowledges the receipt of the Governor's Despatch of
15 February 1858, No.37, in which was enclosed an address from
the inhabitants of Clarence River and the Richmond Districts
expressing their satisfaction at being allowed to remain connected
with the Colony of New South Wales.

Duplicate Despatch No. 11 of 16 July 1858: the Secretary of State
advising the Governor about the postponement of the measures
for removing the existing obstacles to the separation of Moreton
Bay from New South Wales.
Duplicate Despatch No. 21 of 10 August 1858: the Secretary of
State acknowledging receipt of the Governor's despatch of 28 April
1858 (No.66), with its three enclosed petitions from inhabitants
residing in New South Wales between 28 and 30 degrees of south
latitude praying for separation from New South Wales and that the
boundary between the colonies should be fixed at or about the
30th parallel.
1859 Despatches

Duplicate Despatch No. 11 of 18 August 1859: the Secretary of
State informing the Governor that, with reference to former
correspondence on the subject of the projected separation of
Moreton Bay from New South Wales, Her Majesty's Government
having determined to take this step, Instruments were passed for
the purpose of which printed copies are enclosed: a warrant for
passing Letters Patent to create the Colony of Queensland and
appointing Sir George Ferguson Bowen, Governor; Instructions to
accompany these Letters Patent; and an Order in Council to
constitute a Legislature and provide for the administration of
justice.

The Duke of Newcastle confirmed that the boundary of the new
Colony, as defined by the Letter Patent, was the same as proposed
by the Governor in his Despatch No.2 of 2 January 1858.
