Letters, accounts, contracts etc. re expenditure and arrangements for the prison hulks in England, transports for
NSW, and expenditure of the colony. Included are memorials from individuals and groups to increase charges for
freight and the maintenance of convicts, to be allowed not to pay certain duties, to carry private cargoes on ships etc.
The Hulk Returns, 1783–1803 include a detailed statement of costs and a return of prisoners on board awaiting
transportation. The latter records name, age, when and where convicted, sentence, and occasionally state of health,
and when and where discharged.
