This vessel, a stores ship carrying 2080 barrels of beef and pork, also brought
out the Colony's new Assistant Chaplain, the Rev. Samuel Marsden, and his
wife Elizabeth. Also on board was a single female convict, Maria Smith, who
was Mrs. Marsden's servant. Maria Smith had been tried at the Old Bailey on
12 Sep 1792 and had received a life sentence. She was subsequently
pardoned and returned to England [4/4002].
